Hi I’m Cassie Causton
Counselling and contributing to the mental health and wellbeing of others is something that I’m truly passionate about.
I understand that one size does not fit all, and as such, I do not have one single approach to counselling that I draw on. Rather I draw on a range of different theories, models and practice approaches to be able to adapt to your needs.
The most common bodies of knowledge that I integrate in counselling are: the philosophy of recovery; strengths-based, person-centred and solution-focussed approaches; cognitive behaviour therapy; acceptance and commitment therapy; and elements of mindfulness and positive psychology.
As a counsellor I see that my role is to create a supportive environment where you feel valued, respected and heard.
I listen deeply and attentively to facilitate a process where you are able to tap into your self-expertise and shift things so that difficult emotions are no longer in control of you but rather that you are in control of your difficult emotions.
I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers. I hold a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Mental Health Practice, and have a decade of experience working in the mental health sector in South East Queensland.
I grew up in a small country town but have spent most of my adult life enjoying city living. I’m a certified Yoga Teacher and a lover of travel – 26 countries and counting!
When it comes to mental health, and life generally, I think the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche summed it up beautifully when he said:
“You have your way. I have my way. As for the correct way, the right way and the only way, they do not exist”
Through counselling I hope to help you not only discover your way, but to develop the strategies that you need to find balance and be truly able to live your life your way.
I work online full-time and can be quite flexible with session times. If you don’t see a session time available that works for you please get in touch to discuss your preferences.
